Miami picked up a local commitment this week in the form of Belmont defensive back Jadon Rucker-Furlow.

That continued a strong start to the 2018 recruiting cycle for RedHawks coach Chuck Martin.

While much can and almost certainly will change between now and December when recruits can first sign letters of intent, Miami’s class 11-member class ranks No. 1 in the MAC as of the middle of June.

The RedHawks are 50th overall in 247sports composite rankings, far higher than their best mark in the 247 database (since 2002).

In 2015, Miami’s class ranked No. 77, and the average over the last 10 years is 98.3.

That was Martin’s first full-year recruiting class, and it ranked No. 2 in the MAC when all was said and done.

Last season, the RedHawks became the first team to win its last six games in a season and qualify for a bowl.
