Police find 1,600 Percocet pills under robbery suspect’s bed

A Middletown woman confessed to the robbery of a CVS pharmacy last week after thousands of Percocet pills were found under her bed, according to police.

Bethany Scott, 26, of the 200 block of Woodlawn Avenue, was in Middletown Municipal Court on Wednesday for a preliminary hearing on charges of aggravated robbery and drug abuse.

Scott was arrested the day after the pharmacy at 820 S. Breiel Blvd. was robbed at gunpoint by a masked woman.

Middletown Detective Kristy Hughes said pharmacy employees believed the robber was the same woman who walked into the store with mask a few days before.

“She entered the store and an employee asked her to remove the mask. Her face was exposed,” Hughes said.

When the Special Operations Unit served a drug search warrant at Scott’s residence, they found 1,600 Percocet pills under Scott’s bed, according to the detective.

“They put two and two together,” Hughes said. She said 2,000 Percocet pills were stolen by the suspect in the CVS robbery.

Also found at Scott’s residence was a black pellet gun that “looked just like a real gun,” Hughes said.

During questioning by police, Hughes said Scott confessed to the robbery.

“She admitted to her involvement in the robbery,” Hughes said during the hearing. The detective said Scott also said she was the woman in the store who previously was asked to remove the mask.

Scott indicated she was dependant on Percocet pills due to a back injury and so was the father of her children and his brother.

After the short hearing, Judge Mark W. Wall found sufficient evidence to bind the case over to a Butler County grand jury for consideration.

Scott remains in jail on a $200,000 bond.
