Woman found hiding in basement charged by Middletown police

A Middletown woman found hiding in a basement was charged Monday with drug abuse/methamphetamine and a bench warrant for failure to comply by Middletown police.

Amanda Banks, of Lesley Lane, was found hiding in the residence Monday when police were called there on a report of shots fired.

When police were transporting Banks to the City Jail, she began seizing, the police report said.

Middletown paramedics were called and they transported her to Atrium Medical Center. At the hospital, a nurse found a folded piece of paper in Banks’ underwear and inside the paper was a crystal substance that appeared to be methamphetamine, police said.
