TODAY’S MODERATOR: Doing math better

I was always a lousy math student — and apparently, I wasn't alone. Our higher-education reporter, Max Filby, writes that many Miami Valley colleges are working hard to make math more accessible and easier to master.

He writes: "College math classes have long been seen as a 'filter' or a 'weed out' course for students seeking a degree, administrators from colleges throughout the Miami Valley said. … But over the last decade or so, colleges have sought to remove a roadblock that has prevented many students from getting into the career of their dreams. Some have rearranged their curriculum while others have increased tutoring and support for students."
