UPDATE: The Kentucky National Guard is helping hundreds of motorists who were stranded on Interstate 65 for more than 12 hours.
According to WLKY, reported that the highway was impassable due to the stranded vehicles and the high amount of snowfall.
The Red cross also has shelters open for motorists who were stranded, and anyone else who will need it for at least the next 72 hours, WLKY reported.
State police are not sure when traffic will be back to normal on the highway.

ORIGINAL POST: In what hopefully is the last major snow storm of the season, Kentucky has taken the brunt of this storm as the front dumped over a foot of snow, stranding many drivers on highways waiting for help and braving the cold.
According to WKYT, the latest storm will continue to bring one to two inches of snow an hour, but will wrap up this afternoon and evening. On top of the precipitation, Friday may bring sub-zero temperatures.
