Slick roads possible Wednesday morning

Light rain showers will develop late this afternoon and last into the evening ahead of snow showers, leading to possible slick roads Wednesday morning.

Morning sun will give way to clouds this afternoon, said Meteorologist Rich Wirdzek. Rain will end briefly with some wet snow, but roads will be mainly wet. Highs today will be in the low 40s.

After a break from precipitation, an upper level disturbance will bring some snow showers to the area late tonight and close to sunrise, he said. Because the only moisture source for this system is Lake Michigan, snow coverage will be hampered, he said.

"Little accumulation is expected at most, but because of colder temperatures, instant slick spots will develop with any brief snow shower," Wirdzek said.

Lows tonight will be in the mid-20s.

Scattered snow showers will taper down Wednesday morning with a dry, cold afternoon expected. It will be mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 20s.

Thursday will start out sunny, but more clouds will roll in for the later part of the day. A rain or snow shower is possible in the evening far north, he said.

Highs Thursday will be in the mid-30s.

We will see another chance for snow Friday during the morning commute which could lead to slick driving conditions.

The weekend will start even colder with a few snow flurries across the region.
