Middletown’s Safety Town will begin registering children May 1 for the week-long summer program.

Safety Town, offered only to children entering kindergarten in the fall, teaches how to safely get to and from school whether on buses, walking, or riding in a car.

Children watch safety videos, take a trip to the fire department on a school bus, and drive pedal cars through a child-sized village in the school gym.

The free classes are offered in two-hour sessions in the morning or afternoon at Amanda Elementary School.

There will be 15 different class sessions offered from June 5 through July 28.

Call 513-423-9758 beginning May 1 to register a child.

This summer marks the 40th year of the safety education program started in memory of Officer Jack Combs.
