Man stealing credit cards from people at large companies

Police are on the lookout for a man who has been sneaking into area companies during daylight hours and stealing credit cards from unattended purses and wallets.

The man has struck four times at least, including twice in Mason, police said.

“The suspect appears to target larger companies, where he can walk in without being questioned,” said Mason Detective Troy Nelson. “He usually comes in between 10:30 and noon and goes through purses and briefcases, taking credit cards.”

The man then hands the credit cards off to accomplices who use them within an hour of their theft so that the owners won’t have noticed their disappearance yet.

The man is described as a tall, bald black man. Two of his accomplices, a white woman and another black man have also been caught on camera using the credit cards.

They are seen leaving retail stores having used the credit cards to buy electronics and gift cards. They have been spotted in two vehicles, including a 2003 Cadillacs Deville and a blue Mercury Marquis.

The man struck the Cintas company on July 12 and the P&G Research facility in Mason on July 17. He also targeted a company in Montgomery and one in downtown Cincinnati.

Police say the suspect spent up to an hour inside each building.

“It just shows that it can happen anywhere, your smaller businesses, larger businesses, it just depends the alertness of your staff at that point in time,” Nelson said.
