Lakota is replacing two administrators with one

LIBERTY TWP. — Lakota Local Schools is searching for a new assistant superintendent to replace two assistant superintendents who retired.

The new position, which was posted Monday at www.lakotaonline.com, is to replace the positions of assistant superintendents Ron Spurlock and Lon Stettler, who both retired effective Dec. 30. The board then rehired Spurlock and Stettler to do their jobs as consultants through July.

Superintendent Karen Mantia said the ideal candidates will have a willingness to learn and work hard and have experience.

“It would be great if they have been in all levels — elementary, junior high and high school; at least multiple experiences at different levels would really be helpful because you deal with all kinds of issues when you have such a large district.”

The position will remain posted until filled.

The start date will be Aug. 1, said Diane Brunsman, the district’s executive director of human resources. The salary will be based on experience, according to the job posting.

Spurlock has been with Lakota Schools for 23 years. Last year, he served as interim superintendent. Since 2007, he also served as an assistant superintendent overseeing secondary education.

Stettler has been an assistant superintendent since 2008, overseeing elementary education.
