Hamilton fire hydrants getting a new look

The city of Hamilton has partnered with the Great Miami Valley YMCA and InsideOut Studio to clean and paint fire hydrants in downtown and Wards 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Youths from the YMCA will be painting approximately 250 fire hydrants a safety yellow in Wards, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

Artists from InsideOut Studio will creatively paint 24 fire hydrants in the city’s Central Business District.

Portions of Wards 2, 3, 4 and 5 and the downtown area, Central Business District will be subject to sidewalk restrictions beginning through August for completion of the painting.

Drivers and pedestrians are reminded be cautious around the work. Parking spaces in the vicinity of the fire hydrants may be restricted in order to provide a safe work zone, according to the city.
