Butler County lawmakers honor 4-H Club for national shooting title

State Reps. Candice Keller, R-Middletown, and Margy Conditt, R-Liberty Twp., this week honored the Ohio Steel Stingers, which was one four national championships in the 2016 Scholastic Action Shooting Program.

The Butler County 4-H team won first place in four divisions of the Iron Rifle during the 2016 Scholastic Action Shooting Program National Championship. The divisions included: Rookie, Intermediate/Entry, Intermediate/Advanced and Senior/Junior Varsity.

This was the first time Keller, a rookie state legislator, presented a House Resolution.

“Their accomplishments as national champions demonstrate good sportsmanship, citizenry, and excellence in all they do,” she said.

Conditt called the team’s accomplishment “impressive.”

“These young men and women have clearly distinguished themselves not only through their athletic talent but also through their perseverance and sportsmanship,” she said.

The 2016 national championships were held in July 2016 at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio, where more than 320 athletes represented 17 states.

The team also placed third in the Rimfire Pistol in three divisions: Intermediate/Entry, Intermediate/Advanced and Senior/Junior Varsity.
