Hebrew Union College vandalized with swastika

A sign at Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati was vandalized with a swastika, school officials discovered Tuesday.

The swastika, which was painted on the college’s sign in white paint, was removed and the sign has since been repaired, said college president Aaron Panken in a release Tuesday.

“We will not let this act of hate alter our important work. We are indebted to the people of Cincinnati who have stood by us for generations and who have offered their support again today,” Panken wrote in the release. “Tomorrow, a new day will dawn and the values we hold dear will continue to light the way.”

Photos of the vandalized sign have been circulating on Twitter over the last day. The incident is under investigation by Cincinnati Police, Panken said in the release.

Hebrew Union College is the largest Jewish seminary school in North America. Along with its Cincinnati campus, it has campuses in New York, Los Angels and Jerusalem, according to the school’s website.
