West Chester rape suspect in custody

A West Chester Twp. woman sexually assaulted and robbed inside her home this week wasn’t a completely random incident, according to police.

While they do not believe that 26-year-old Camron Victor Wohl personally knew the 74-year-old victim, they do believe she was targeted.

Wohl, of Colerain Twp., is accused of forcing the victim into her Tylersville Road home on Tuesday after asking her for pain medication then assaulting and robbing her. He was arrested Friday in Carrollton, Kentucky, just hours after police signed warrants for his arrest.

“It is real hard to believe that it was random,” West Chester p0lice Lt. David Tivin said.

While there is no indication the victim knew Wohl, he likely saw her as an opportunity.

To gain access to the victim, police said Wohl told her that repairs were needed on her roof. When she told him she wasn’t interested, he grabbed her around the throat, pulled out a knife and forced her inside her home, where he sexually assaulted her, police said.

“This is truly a stranger danger situation,” Tivin said.

Wohl, who has a family and children, works in the West Chester Twp. area, Tivin said.

Police have also search his home on Hughes Road. They also have possession of the black Acura CL he was allegedly driving at the time of the assault.

Wohl, who was considered by police to be armed and dangerous, had last been seen in Carroll County, Ky., in a pickup truck he stole from his father, police said.

That truck was spotted by Kentucky State Police and West Chester officers in Carrollton.

Wohl was found at 2:15 p.m. in a room at a Hampton Inn registered in his name, according to police. He was taken into custody at the hotel without incident.

West Chester police said tips from the public and the suspect’s family helped them apprehend the suspect.

Wohl will have an extradition hearing before he can be brought back to Butler County.
