Hamilton man charged in crash that killed classmate

A Hamilton teen is facing a misdemeanor charge for a June crash that killed his fellow Hamilton High School classmate.

Travis Owens, 18, of North F Street, Hamilton, was indicted by a grand jury on a single charge of vehicular homicide, a first-degree misdemeanor for the June 26 crash in Reily Twp.

Daniel Accorinti, 18, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash about 7:30 p.m. on Hamilton-Scipio Road near Chapel Road in Reily Twp., according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office.

A 2010 Chevrolet Camaro driven Owens, 18, of Hamilton, was traveling on Hamilton-Scipio Road, when Owens lost control of the vehicle and went off the road, according to deputies.

The vehicle flipped several times before coming to rest in a field.

Owens and Accorinti are 2016 graduates of Hamilton High School.

One passenger, a female juvenile, was transported to Fort Hamilton Hospital for treatment of injuries.
