Butler County student wins clothing company’s anti-bullying award

A Lakota East High School student is one of only 10 students nationally to win a $2,500 renewable scholarship as part of an anti-bullying campaign.

Lakota East senior Erinn Aulfinger is the recipient of the scholarship from the Hollister Co., a brand of Abercrombie & Fitch Co., and its anti-bullying campaign.

For this year’s National Bullying Prevention Month, Hollister is working with STOMP Out Bullying, a national anti-bullying and anti-cyberbullying organization for kids and teens, according to a statement from the company.

STOMP Out Bullying is dedicated to changing the culture so that students can be themselves and be accepted by their peers, according to company officials.

The national campaign’s goals include promoting civility, inclusion and equality, it works to reduce and prevent bullying, cyberbullying, and other digital abuse, educates against homophobia, LGBTQ discrimination, racism and hatred, and deters violence in schools, online and in communities across the country. Its HelpChat line offers assistance for those in need and at risk for suicide.
