5 Butler County bridges to be replaced or repaired

Butler County will spend approximately $24 million on road projects this year, including five bridge projects

Work has already begun on the complete replacement — price tag $1.4 million — of the Cochran Road bridge in Hanover Twp., according to Butler County Engineer Greg Wilkens.

The Browns Run Road bridge in Madison Twp. is another complete replacement job at $364,675.

  • Cochran Road over Indian Creek in Hanover Twp. Cost: $1.4 million
  • Browns Run Road over Browns Run in Madison Twp. Cost: $364,675
  • Oxford State Road just west of Breiel Boulevard in Middletown Cost: $250,000
  • Hamilton Eaton Road over Seven Mile Creek in Milford Twp. Cost: $150,000
  • McCoy Road about a half mile east of Ohio 732 in Riley Twp. Cost: $97,030

The engineer’s office received $13.3 million in grant funding for its 2017 projects. The county, townships and Tax Increment Financing (TIF) money will pay for about $10.7 million.

The county general fund and property taxes are not used to pay for the engineer’s projects, they are funded with gasoline taxes, vehicle registration fees and state and federal grants.
