UnitedHealthcare is adding benefits to its Medicare Advantage plans.
The insurance company said in a statement that starting January, people with UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans in Ohio will have a new fitness benefit with access to exercise classes, workout equipment and social activities.
Ohio fitness centers participating in the program included in the cost of plans include participating locations of Anytime Fitness, Gold’s Gym, LA Fitness, Life Time and Snap Fitness. Locations also include local participating YMCAs.
UnitedHealthcare’s open enrollment outreach efforts come at a time that it is out-of-network with Premier Health, the largest hospital and doctor network in Southwest Ohio.
There’s no deal in sight between the two organizations, leaving residents with Medicare Advantage plans having to chose between a new doctor or a new insurance provider to manage their Medicare plans.
UnitedHealthcare says it serves one in five Medicare beneficiaries in the U.S.
