>> Freeze Watch vs. Freeze Warning: What’s the difference?
A Freeze Watch goes into effect at 11 p.m. and lasts through 11 a.m. Friday. Subfreezing temperatures as low as 28 degrees possible. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possible damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold. To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained or allowed to drip slowly. In-ground sprinkler systems should be drained and above-ground pipes covered to protect them from freezing.
Overnight, skies will be cloudy and mainly dry, but some sprinkles or even a stray flurry could mix in the far north. Temperatures will dip into the upper 20s, effectively ending the growing season.
