HS Roundup 1/17: Trotwood pulls away with 42-point fourth quarter

Trotwood exploded for 42 points in the final quarter to run away from Springfield 112-82 in boys basketball on Friday.

Sammy Anderson poured in 36 points to lead the way for Trotwood, winners of nine straight.

Springfield trailed by five at the half and 10 going into the final period.

Trotwood improved to 12-1 and will head to Trent Arena next to take on Akron SVSM at the Flyin’ to the Hoop Tournament on Sunday.

Springfield will also be in action at Flyin’ to the Hoop, facing Spire Academy on Monday.

Boys Basketball

Alter 57, Chaminade Julienne 45: Brady Uhl poured in 31 points, Jacob Conner added 12 and Alter hit a dozen three-point baskets to improve to 12-1. Sean Menker paced CJ with 14 points.

Badin 60, Purcell Marian 48: Spencer Giesting tallied 14 points for Badin, which won at Purcell Marian for the first time since 2014.

Beavercreek 53, Lebanon 45: ‘Creek went on a 14-7 run in the final quarter to secure the win. Nick Pierett chipped in 15 points for Lebanon.

Bellbrook 56, Franklin 52: Bellbrook trailed by five points with 38 seconds to play, but Ryan Chew hit a huge three-pointer to help Bellbrook claw back and take the lead. Chew ended up with 25 points.

Carroll 54, Fenwick 40: Sam Severt scored 22 points and Sean McKitrick added 12 off the bench to lead Carroll.

Catholic Central 53, Triad 39: Tyler and Ian Galluch combined for 30 points to pace Catholic Central. Dillon Nott and Batai Lease had 12 points apiece for Triad.

Centerville 39, Springboro 37: Mo Njie tallied 13 points and Jayson Hayes 11 as Centerville rallied in the fourth quarter to earn the win.

Coldwater 59, Delphos St. John’s 45: Noah Miller recorded 15 point swith 10 rebounds and Will Broering added 13 points to lead Coldwater.

Emmanuel Christian 49, Dayton Christian 40: Fred Shropshire and Jason Channels tallied 11 points apiece and Casey Swank tacked on 10 for Emmanuel Christian. Isaiah Edwards had 18 points for Dayton Christian.

Fort Loramie 43, Russia 37: Grant Albers turned in 10 points and Fort Loramie held off a Russia rally down the stretch. Mason Dapore paced Russia with 21 points.

Greeneview 58, Mechanicsburg 45: Rhett Burtch put up 12 points and Myles Witt added 11 for Greeneview. Tristan Hall had 21 points to lead Mechanicsburg.

Greenon 89, Northeastern 63: Mason Potter poured in 30 points, Clayton Minteer 17 and Jaden Journell and Cade Rice 14 apiece for Greenon.

Indian Lake 82, Ben Logan 68: Austin Parker exploded for 39 points to lead Indian Lake. Chris LaRiva added 11 and Clay Jacobs 10.

Lakota East 62, Lakota West 42: Nate Johnson finished with 15 points to lead four players in double-digit scoring for East, which improved to 12-2 overall. Kaden Fuhrmann and Alex Mangold added 13 apiece.

Mason 62, Fairfield 42: Deshawne Crim had 15 points for Fairfield but Mason pulled away in the second half. Matthew Smith led the way for Mason with 19 points and 10 rebounds.

Miami East 58, Covington 45: Sam Zapadka chipped in 23 points and Collen Guddorf added 12 points with 15 rebounds to lead Miami East.

Minster 52, Marion Local 47: Jacob Salazar posted 14 points and Justin Nixon tacked on 12 points with 13 rebounds for Minster. Brady Ronnebaum totaled 14 points for Marion Local.

Mississinawa Valley 56, Bradford 37: Blake Scholl scored 17 points, Alex Scholl 11 and Trey Godfrey 10 for Mississinawa Valley.

National Trail 52, Bethel 35: Zach Woodall totaled 22 points and Cameron Harrison tacked on 14 to help National Trail remain unbeaten in league play.

New Miami 54, Clark Montessori 51: Deanza Duncan bucketed a three-point shot at the buzzer for New Miami.

Northridge 66, Waynesville 55: Cameron Evans recorded 21 points with 11 rebounds and Shawn Shehee added 14 points to help Northridge pull off the upset. Kohl Todd and Mac Greely each had 14 points for Waynesville.

Oakwood 61, Eaton 45: Daniel Hu led four players in double-digit scoring for Oakwood with 16 points. Trevor Long led Eaton with 15 points.

Preble Shawnee 68, Dixie 52: Sam Agee chipped in 20 points to pace Preble Shawnee.

Sidney 73, Piqua 65: Trey Werntz scored a career-high 21 points and hauled in 10 rebounds for Sidney, which improved to 12-1. Dresean Roberts scored 21 points and Garrett Schrubb 19 for Piqua.

Tippecanoe 47, Xenia 44: Ben Knostman totaled 14 points and Tippecanoe was solid from the foul line down the stretch to pull out the win.

Troy 81, West Carrollton 71: Shaeden Olden and Tre Archie combined for 54 points to pace Troy in a second-half rally win. Jaden Owens added 11. Kalen McKinney led West Carrollton with 19 points.

Versailles 44, St. Henry 32: Michael Stammen totaled 17 points and Versailles outscored St. Henry 26-13 in the second half to pull away.

West Liberty-Salem 57, Cedarville 42: Matthew Loffing led the way with 19 points, Holden Nease added 12 and Nick Burden 11 for WLS.

Centerville 1, Elder 0: John Hall knocked in the game-winner with 1:27 left to play for Centerville.
