HS Roundup 9/3: Monroe, Oakwood soccer battle to scoreless draw

A high-ranked matchup between Southwestern Buckeye League foes Oakwood and Monroe ended in a 0-0 draw in boys soccer action on Tuesday.

Monroe was ranked No. 3 and Oakwood No. 4 in the latest Division II Miami Valley Coaches’ Poll.

Keeper Adam Duff was credited with five saves and the shutout for Monroe.

Oakwood moved to 3-0-1 and Monroe 4-0-1.

Boys Soccer

Bellbrook 2, Brookville 0: Reed Hepner accounted for both of Bellbrook’s goals.

Fairborn 3, West Carrollton 1: Mathew Rogalinski scored first off a Keegan Dierker assist, Dierker scored the next goal and Travis Rogalinski the third for Fairborn.

Ottoville 4, New Knoxville 0: Keeper Josh Deitsch racked up 16 saves in a losing effort for New Knoxville.

Girls Soccer

Bellbrook 7, Brookville 0: Bailey Sedlak led the way for Bellbrook with three goals and one assist.

Dayton Christian 9, Middletown Christian 0: Holly Garrett had three goals, Sophie Poindexter scored her first varsity goal and Dayton Christian recorded its seventh straight win and sixth shutout.

Milton-Union 3, Dixie 0: Morgan Grudich put Milton-Union on the board off a Lizzy Oaks assist and Aulbrey Hergenrather drove in the next two goals.

Urbana 6, Northeastern 0: Sam Tracy scored three goals and the Urbana defense allowed just two shots to help keeper Ashleigh Deskins record the shutout.

Boys Golf

Firebird Invitational: Alter edged Springboro by a single stroke and Centerville by two in a closely contested tournament at Beavercreek Golf Club. Springboro’s Jordan Gilkison was the medalist with a two-under par 70.

Bellbrook 171, Madison 229: Ryan Wehner and Kane Ely split medalist honors for Bellbrook at 42 and Zach Crampton chipped in a 43. Brady Wilson led Madison with a 44.

Cedarville 210, Southeastern 218: Mitch Rogers earned medalist honors with a 44 to lead Cedarville.

Coldwater 175, Waynesfield-Goshen 194: Carson Muhlenkamp carded a 38 and Collin Muhlenkamp a 42 to lead Coldwater.

Fort Loramie 178, Newton 181, Versailles 184: Aiden Wehrman shot a 43 for Fort Loramie, Ross Ferrell was the medalist at 42 for Newton and Connor Van Skyock and Alex Kunk each had a 45 to lead Versailles.

Jackson Center 184, Botkins 186: Chris Elchert, Jordan Rizzo and Garrett Rizzo each shot a 45 for Jackson Center. Parker Geis paced Botkins with a 43.

Triad 201, West Jefferson 221: Kevin Butz earned medalist honors with a 47 and Cole Pond added a 50 to lead Triad. Bryce Keckly had a 49 for West Jefferson.

Girls Golf

Ben Logan 172, Graham 224: Sydney Wesson led the way with a 38 for Ben Logan, Mailiis Simovart added a 43 and Gabrielle Schmidt a 45.

Butler 213, Northmont 228: Jaedin Bowers carded a 49 and Carly Sherwood a 55 for the short-handed Northmont team.

Greenon 231, Triad 232: Joni Russell finished with a 53 and Anna Nott a 55 in the slim loss for Triad.

Greenville 197, Troy 240: Kenna Jenkinson tallied a 42 and Riley Hunt a 47 to lead Greenville. Paige Tuchell shot a 56 for Troy.

National Trail 189, Bethel 222: Makenna Jones earned medalist honors with a 39 and Katelyn Hines tacked on a 48 for National Trail.

Oakwood 200, Springboro 212: Abby Kraft led the field with a 44 for Oakwood.

Xenia 202, Lebanon 236: Brynna Mardis shot a 46 and Olivia Wagner a 47 to pace Xenia. Grace Swartz was the medalist with a 45 for Lebanon.

Chaminade Julienne 3, Miamisburg 2: In a matchup of MVTCA ranked teams CJ edged Miamisburg. Mary Kate Bussert improved to 6-1 with a singles win and the doubles duo of Adrienne Bussert/Eden Hill also nabbed a win for ‘Burg.

Northmont 4, Stebbins 1: Alaina Anderson, Aubrey Ferrell and Rachel Smith swept the singles matches to lead Northmont.

Tecumseh 3, Bellefontaine 2: Erica Kelley won in second singles and Tecumseh swept the doubles matches. Courtney Sims and Mia Neer scored singles wins for Bellefontaine.

Trotwood 3, Northridge 2: Jayla Adams edged Fifine Marshall in first singles to help Trotwood pick up the win.

Girls Volleyball

Alter 3, Carroll 0: Lindsey Rocco dished out 27 assists with ten digs and four aces to pace Alter. Macy Adams added nine kills and Cora Cunningham eight kills.

Brookville 3, Bellbrook 2: Elena Heebsh chipped in 19 kills with 13 digs and Rachel Cordonnier tacked on 10 kills to lead Bellbrook in the loss.

Centerville 3, Springboro 2: Centerville rallied from down a set, winning the final set by a score of 15-9.

Coldwater 3, Wapakoneta 0: Lauren Gilliland paced Coldwater with 18 kills and seven aces. Annelise Harlamert added 32 assists and Katie Alig seven digs.

Dayton Christian 3, Legacy Christian 0: After a tough first set, Dayton Christian rolled to a straight-set victory.

Eaton 3, Franklin 0: Carsyn Lammers tallied 19 assists, Olivia Baumann eight kills and Claire Sorrell seven aces to help Eaton improve to 6-0 and 4-0 in conference play.

Fort Loramie 3, Jackson Center 0: Maya Maurer totaled 22 assists, McKenzie Hoelscher 12 kills and Jadyn Puthoff three aces to lead Fort Loramie.

Graham 3, Urbana 0: Emily Skelley tallied 14 kills, Shelby Stoops six kills and Maleah Murphy 14 digs in the loss for Urbana.

Madison Plains 3, Greenon 1: Haley Roush scored 11 kills, Katie Pry nine kills and Makenna Young 31 assists with 17 digs in the loss for Greenon.

National Trail 3, Newton 0: Angel Bowers recorded seven aces with 12 assists and Tristan Bowers had 11 kills with two blocks for National Trail.

Northeastern 3, Mechanicsburg 1: Ava Mayo picked up 17 kills with 16 digs and Mallory Blakeman 22 digs in the loss for ‘Burg.

Tippecanoe 3, Fairborn 0: Rachel Wildermuth led the way for unbeaten Tippecanoe with seven kills, four blocks and eight assists. Abby Hughes added 10 digs and Kaitlyn Husic five aces.

West Liberty-Salem 3, Triad 0: Alex Burton had 19 kills, Gabby Williams 22 assists and Michele Smith 20 digs to lead WLS.
