HS Roundup 10/7: MAC schools shine in latest OHSVCA poll

Several local teams are looking strong in the latest OHSVCA Girls Volleyball Poll.

Notably, the Midwest Athletic Conference.

The MAC shined in the Division IV poll, led by New Bremen which has pole position. Also in the top ten are Fort Recovery, New Knoxville and Marion Local; St. Henry also ended up ranked. Other local schools in the D4 poll include Fort Loramie at three and Lehman Catholic.

In Division II, Bishop Fenwick comes in at third with Tippecanoe, Eaton and Alter also appearing in the rankings. In Division III, Coldwater grabbed a ranking.

In the latest OSSCA Soccer polls, local teams earned topped the rankings, notably Alter in Girls Division II and Beavercreek in Girls Division I. Tippecanoe earned third in Boys Division II.

Girls Volleyball

Eaton 3, Greenville 2: Eaton is now 19-1, led by Shaylen Perry’s 20 kills, Libby Giffen’ 15 kills, Carsyn Lammers’ 29 assists and Claire Sorrell’s 17 digs.

National Trail 3, Emmanuel Christian 0: Jaidyn Tout, Tristan Bowers, Shelby Slade and J’da Jackson each had one block and Madison Hathaway and Brooke Johnson each had 7 digs defensively.

Offensively, Madison had 7 aces while Angel Bowers had 4; Brooke had 16 assists and Angel had 8; & leading in the kill department was Tristan with 9, Jaidyn with 6 and Angel with 6 kills apiece. The Blazers raised money for breast cancer awareness tonight as well.

Lincolnview 3, New Knoxville 2: Carsyn Henschen had 21 kills, Ellie Gabel had 19 kills, 17 digs, Haley Fledderjohann had 24 digs and Carly Fledderjohann added 57 assists.

Boys Soccer

Bethel 10, West Jefferson 2: Bethel ran its record to 13-2, led by Cannon Dakin’s 3 goals and 1 assist, Nick Schmidt’s 1 goal and 2 assists, Jaiden Hogge’s 1 goal and 1 assist, Kyle Brueckeman’s 1 goal and 1 assist, Jace Houck’s 1 goal and 1 assist, Sam Sortman’s 1 goal, Casey Keesee’s 1 goal, Matt Smith’s 1 goal, Devyn Mann’s assist and Aiden Flomerfelt’s 2 assists.

Twin Valley South 1, Milton Union 0: Aaron Clark scored late for TVS, assisted by Chris Keener. Will Jerdon and the defense earned their sixth shutout of the year for 8-5-1 TVS.

Girls Soccer

Urbana 4, Indian Lake 0: Sophia Talebi landed a hat trick for Urbana, while Tessa Armstrong added the fourth. Erika Arnett, Shai-Anne Settle and Kate Bender had assists. The win clinched at least a share of the CBC Mad River Conference for Urbana, the second time in three years.
