HS Roundup 5/18: Greenville wins 12th district title in last 13 years

Greenville defeated Taylor 2-0 in Division II district softball action on Saturday, taking home its 12th district championship in the last 13 seasons.

Grace Shaffer tossed a two-hit shutout to lead the way in the circle.

At the plate Baylee Petry drove in both runs in a pinch-hit appearance.

Greenville moves on to face Hebron Lakewood in the regional tournament at Mason on Wednesday.

District Tournament

Ben Logan 5, East Clinton 4: Ben Logan scored off a Haley Wilson single with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning to advance to the regional tournament. Grace Deardurff struck out 12 in a winning effort along with hitting a solo home run and Gretchen Wilber went 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.

Clinton-Massie 4, Eaton 0: Lindsey Carter put Massie on the board with a bunt single in the third inning, Natalie Lay drove in a pair of runs and Clinton-Massie won a district title for the third consecutive season.

Felicity-Franklin 4, Triad 1: Joni Russell struck out nine in a losing effort for Triad, which finished the season at 14-10.

Mechanicsburg 8, Southeastern 2: ‘Burg brought back a district championship for the second straight season.

National Trail 11, Riverside 9: National Trail built up a big lead early then held off a Riverside rally to move on to the regional tournament.

Regular Season

Anna 4, Lehman Catholic 2: Kyle Evans and Carter Elliott each swatted a double for Anna. Jacob Robinson picked up the win on the mound and Evans nailed down the save. Alex Keller and Bryce Kennedy each had a pair of hits for Lehman.

Butler 11, Coldwater 5: Butler pushed across five runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good. Quinton Hall picked up the win on the mound and Boston Smith, Cam Miller and Cooper Harestad each had multiple hits for Butler. Zack McKibben recorded two hits and Noah Miller launched a home run for Coldwater.

Fenwick 11, Dayton Christian 6: Thomas Vogelsang and R.J. Clesceri each collected multiple hits to lead Fenwick.

National Trail 8, Arcanum 6: National Trail tied a team record for wins in a season at 20.

Waynesville 13, Tri-County North 1: Waynesville jumped ahead early with seven runs in the first inning. Phillip Lockwood drove in the lone run for TCN.
