HS Roundup 1/22: ‘Creek Hockey shuts out Gahanna at Nationwide

Beavercreek hockey put on a show in a 4-0 win versus Gahanna at the home of the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday.

‘Creek took control with a pair of goals in the closing minutes of the second period. Asa Herbert scored with around two minutes to play and Thomas Bush snuck in a power play goal before the end of the period.

Bush got the scoring started with a first period goal for ‘Creek and Nate Schivelbein capped the scoring with a goal in the third quarter.

Lakota West 78, Dixie Heights 65: Carter Combs poured in 31 points to lead Lakota West.

Mechanicsburg 59, Triad 51: Kyle Smith posted 25 points with 12 rebounds to pace Mechanicsburg. Ayden Sanford scored 14 points for Triad.

New Miami 69, North College Hill 63: Jordan Robinette totaled 21 points, Deanza Duncan added 19 and Trey Robinette 18 to pace New Miami.

Girls Basketball

Badin 46, Wyoming 21: Nine players scored for Badin led by Lizzy Meyer with 10. Badin hopped out to a 17-2 lead early and held on to move to 11-6.

Carroll 42, Alter 21: Julia Keller recorded 14 points and Megan Leraas tacked on 10 for Carroll.

Centerville 72, Trotwood 54: Cotie McMahon chipped in 27 points with six assists, Amy Velasco added 15 points and Emma Stanley 12 to pace Centerville.

Chaminade Julienne 80, Dunbar 36: Jordyn Varise and Eve Monaghan turned in 13 points apiece, Courtney Redd tacked on 12 and Staci Greene 10 for CJ.

Fairfield 67, Oak Hills 61: Fairfield’s Karlee Mills was tabbed as the MVP in the Mercy Health Hoops Classic.

Fairmont 88, Springfield 20: Madison Bartley chipped in 18 points and Madeline Westbeld 17 to lead five players in double-digit scoring for Fairmont. As a team Fairmont recorded 25 assists and 31 steals in the contest.

Miamisburg 43, Lebanon 37: Anna Long tallied 16 points and Abby Carter added nine as Miamisburg rallied in the second half, outscoring Lebanon 18-6 in the final quarter for the win.

Piqua 53, Xenia 48: Tylah Yeomans had 23 points with nine boards and Aubree Schrubb added 13 points and 13 rebounds for Piqua.

Ross 41, Talawanda 40: Ross trailed by double digits at the half but rallied in the second half.

Sidney 49, Butler 41: Lexee Brewer netted 12 of her 18 points in the final quarter to help Sidney secure the victory. Kelsey Kizer and Allie Stockton added 11 points apiece for Sidney.

Springfield Shawnee 30, Northwestern 27: Shawnee opened the game on a 9-2 run and held on for the win, led by Tori Malicki’s 10 points and 17 rebounds.

Tecumseh 61, Urbana 52: Terah Harness had 16 points with six steals and Makenzie Chinn 15 points and 10 steals for Tecumseh, which rolled out to a 40-21 advantage in the first half.

Tippecanoe 60, West Carrollton 30: The victory bumped Tippecanoe to 13-0 in Miami Valley League play.

Troy 53, Fairborn 52: Macie Taylor finished with 27 points to help Troy hold off a Fairborn rally. Natalie Oktavec led Fairborn with 18 points.

Springboro 35, Lebanon 16: Jake Kowalski and Tripp Johnson each collected their 100th career match and ‘Boro won in the Battle of the Rock.

Centerville 2594, Northmont 2225: Brendan Salo scored a 481 series for Centerville. Josh Hanssen bowled a 247 game and Jacob Fitzwater added a 225 in the loss for Northmont.

Middletown 2758, Fairfield 2734: Luke Lawson rolled a 267 game and Middletown took the lead in the baker games to move to 11-1.

Ben Logan 2328, Urbana 2090: Erica Warne recorded a 368 series and Addie Buckenroth added a 193 game for Ben Logan.

Fairfield 2235, Middletown 1790: Fairfield picked up another win to remain unbeaten in conference play. Emily Cupp led Middletown with a 225 game.

Northmont 2104, Centerville 1985: Megan Schaurer rolled games of 204 and 202 and Hailey Yingst added a 203 to lead Northmont.
