Cincinnati Christian 7, Franklin Monroe 6: Cincinnati Christian tied the game with a walk and won a bases loaded bunt to advance to the regional tournament.
Coldwater 8, Fort Recovery 1: Coldwater scored five runs in the fourth inning off of Brad Giere, Jacob Wenning and Nathan Grunden to clinch the district title. Coldwater will face Edison in the regional matchup on Thursday.
Minster 14, Crestview 13: Jack Heitbrink hit for a two run single to give Minster the win in the bottom of the seventh inning, clinching the district title.
Russia 9, Deer Park 0: Russia claimed its second consecutive D-IV district title to advance to take on Fairfield Christian Academy in regional semifinal action.
Track & Field
Division II Boys at Graham: Springfield Shawnee, Anna and Clinton-Massie took the top three spots in district competition. Balin McGhee won the 400m dash and Robie Glass the high jump for Shawnee. Anna’s Austin Fogt took the 110m hurdle title and placed second in the 300m hurdle. Northwestern’s Adam Riedinger won the shot put event, placing second in the discus throw.
Division II Girls at Graham: Bellefontaine’s 121 points earned first place, as Springfield Shawnee and Milton-Union followed with 113 and 64 respectively. Zoe Price had an outstanding day all around, taking first in the 100m and 300m hurdles and was a part of Bellefontaine’s winning 400m relay team. Lauren Carter took first in the 100m dash and the 200m dash, placing second in the 400m dash, all for Bellefontaine.
Division II Boys at Piqua: Dunbar took first place with 110 points as Versailles came in a close second with 104. Oakwood finished out the top three with 66 points. Dunbar’s Jaleni Allen took first in the 110m hurdle and the 200m dash and second in the 100m dash. Nigel Beal took first in the 300m hurdle. Allen and Beal were both a part of the first place 1600m relay team for Dunbar.
Division II Girls at Piqua: Versailles took gold with 103.5 points, as Oakwood took silver with 87 and Valley View bronze with 82. Versailles’ Ellen Peters took first place in the 300m hurdle, while Kenia McEldowney took first in the 800m run. Jocelyn Huffman ran a 13.03 second 100m dash to take first for Dunbar.
Division III Boys at Milton-Union: Twin Valley South placed first with 112 points. Arcanum and Cedarville followed with 87 and 77 respectively. Truey Gruet took gold in the 300m hurdles and silver in the 110m hurdles for Cedarville in its third place finish. Jacob Wells and Wyatt Boyle both won their events, the 400m dash and shot put respectively, for TVS. Ethin Huffman collected a first place pole vault finish for Arcanum.
Division III Girls at Milton-Union: Twin Valley South dominated the tournament, earning 103 points to take first place. Arcanum came in second with 70 and Tri-County North third with 69. Mylan Crews paved the way for TCN, placing first in the 100m dash, while also running as a part of the first place 400m and 800m relay teams. Addie Engel won the 1600m run for Catholic Central.
Division III Boys at Piqua: Fort Loramie won the overall tournament with 101 points, while Covington came in a close second with 95. Loramie’s Jake Rethman took first in the 3200 run to advance to the regional tournament.. Cade Harshbarger won the 300m hurdle event for Covington, while David Stammen took the discus throw for Houston.
Division III Girls at Piqua: West Liberty-Salem edged out Fort Loramie with 114 points to Loramie’s 110 to win the overall tournament. Covington came in third with 99. West Liberty’s Katelyn Stapleton won both the 800m and 1600m runs, while teammates Reghan Biekeski and Lydia Moell took the 3200m run and pole vault titles respectively. Lindsey Magoteaux won the 100m dash for Lehman Catholic and Loramie’s Alysssa Wrasman took gold in the 100m hurdles.
