Reds Lorenzen to pitch, hit, field in today’s game vs. Indians

The Cincinnati Reds plan to use relief pitcher Michael Lorenzen in center field during Monday’s game vs. the Indians.

Lorenzen will pitch and inning, then stay in the game to play center field for two innings, manager David Bell said.

“It is part of the plan we put in place for him,” Bell said. “We want to see him get one or two at bats. I’m excited for him. It is so unique.”

Lorenzen hit .290 with four home runs and 10 RBIs last season in limited plate appearances (34).
