Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto found himself in the center of an argument at home plate for the second straight game — this time with the opposing catcher.

One day after being ejected in the first inning from a game in Atlanta for disputing a strike call, Votto was again unhappy with a call. This time, it led to words being exchanged between Votto and Milwaukee Brewers catcher Erik Kratz in the third inning.

Votto and Kratz got in each other’s faces, and then the benches emptied. Players from both teams surrounded Votto and Kratz at home plate, though it was not a very intense incident. Several Reds and Brewers had their arms around each other as they watched, and everyone soon returned to their dugout without any punches being thrown or ejections needed.

Later in the inning, Jesse Winker hit a two-run home run to give the Reds a 4-2 lead in the opener of the four-game series.
