Votto and Kratz got in each other’s faces, and then the benches emptied. Players from both teams surrounded Votto and Kratz at home plate, though it was not a very intense incident. Several Reds and Brewers had their arms around each other as they watched, and everyone soon returned to their dugout without any punches being thrown or ejections needed.

Later in the inning, Jesse Winker hit a two-run home run to give the Reds a 4-2 lead in the opener of the four-game series.
