Series history: Ohio State leads 2-1. The Buckeyes lost 29-28 in 1977 in Columbus. Ohio State won 24-14 in 1983 in Norman, Okla., and 45-24 last season in Norman.

Last week: Ohio State won 49-21 at Indiana. Oklahoma won 56-7 at home against UTEP.

Coaches: Urban Meyer is 62-6 in his sixth season. Meyer is 19-7 against top-10 teams in his career and 8-4 at Ohio State. … Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley is in his first season. He turned 34 on Tuesday and is the youngest coach in FBS, the top division of college football. He was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach the last two seasons under Bob Stoops, who resigned in June after 18 seasons.

Ohio State notes: The Buckeyes are 16-4 in night games at Ohio Stadium. … Ohio State ranks third in college football history in winning percentage (887-322-53, .724). Oklahoma ranks fifth (873-321-53, .721). … Ohio State and Oklahoma have produced 818 NFL draft picks and 12 Heisman Trophy winners. … Nine Buckeyes made their first career starts last week: wide receivers Austin Mack and K.J. Hill; running back J.K. Dobbins; right guard Branden Bowen; defensive linemen Jalyn Holmes and Nick Bosa; cornerbacks Denzel Ward and Damon Arnette; and safety Jordan Fuller. … Ohio State had two interceptions last week and has 23 in the last 14 games.

Oklahoma notes: The Sooners have three Ohioans on the roster: linebacker Emmanuel Beal, of Everest High School in Columbus; offensive lineman Alex Dalton, of Troy; and walk-on long snapper Kasey Kelleher, of Woodridge High School in Peninsula. Dalton has appeared in 13 games in his career. He will miss this season after suffering a knee injury in the summer. … Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield played only the first half against UTEP and threw for 329 yards and three touchdowns. … Tight end Mark Andrews had a career-high seven receptions. He has 57 catches in his career and 15 touchdowns. … Two true freshmen started for Oklahoma in the opener: wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and linebacker Kenneth Murray. … This is Oklahoma's third non-conference, regular-season game against a top-10 team since 2000. It beat No. 5 Florida State 23-13 in 2011 and beat No. 5 Notre Dame 30-13 in 2012.
