Ohio State football will play a Friday night game next fall

The third year of the Big Ten’s experiment with Friday night football will included Ohio State.

The Buckeyes' game at Northwestern, a rematch of the 2018 Big Ten championship game, will be played Oct. 18 in Evanston, Ill.

While the Big Ten's decision to play three conference games and three nonconference games on Friday nights has been controversial, there is some good news for Ohio State in this case.

The Buckeyes will not have to play at Northwestern on a short week because they are off the previous weekend.

The Friday night game also gives Ohio State an extra day to prepare for a visit from Wisconsin on Oct. 26.

The Wildcats last hosted Ohio State in 2013, a 40-30 victory for the Buckeyes.

NU last beat the Buckeyes in a 33-27 overtime game in Evanston in 2004. That is Northwestern’s only win in the series since 1971, when the Wildcats won 14-10 in Columbus.
