NFL Draft: Where Ohio State players are headed next

After seven Ohio State Buckeyes were chosen in the 2018 NFL Draft, several more found potential homes in the league in the following two days.

The most notable story is also the most confusing.

Initially, quarterback J.T. Barrett was reported to be heading to the Indianapolis Colts.

Then he was said to be getting a tryout with the Saints instead.

Now he reportedly has a 3-year contract in New Orleans, where he could have a good shot at becoming the backup to future Hall of Famer Drew Brees.

To make that happen, Barrett would have to beat out journeyman Tom Savage and Taysom Hill, who made the roster as a rookie special teamer last season.

Ironically, Barrett is a three-time winner of the Big Ten Quarterback of the Year Award that bears Brees’ name, and he broke multiple conference career records held by Brees.

California native Marcus Baugh signed with the Raiders, Damon Webb and Elijaah Goins signed with the Tennessee Titans (where former Ohio State defensive backs coach Kerry Coombs has taken the same job), Tracy Sprinkle signed with the Carolina Panthers and Michael Hill is getting a tryout with the Detroit Lions while Nick Seme will try out for the Cleveland Browns.

Linebacker Chris Worley is expected to sign with the Cincinnati Bengals if he passes a physical prior to the team’s rookie minicamp next week.

(The Bengals already drafted former Baker teammates Billy Price and Sam Hubbard.)

If you haven’t heard of Goins or Seme, you are not alone — they both walked on at Ohio State and played primarily on special teams.

Seme told ElevenWarriors.com he plans to attend grad school at the University of Dayton after giving pro football a shot.
