National magazine down on Dayton Flyers’ chances in the Atlantic 10

Street and Smith’s is not expecting a strong start to the Anthony Grant era of Dayton Flyers basketball.

The magazine’s editors predict Dayton will finish eighth in the Atlantic 10 this season, the first with former Flyer Grant as the head coach.

Dayton won the conference regular season title last season and shared it the year before, but much has changed since the end of last season.

Grant replaced Archie Miller, who left to become head coach at Indiana.

Grant’s first UD roster is set to have 10 healthy scholarship players with Xeyrius Williams, a junior from Wayne High School, the only returning starter, but Grant said that will not be an excuse for the Flyers this season as they try to defend their league title

Redshirt freshman Kostas Antetokounmpo is picked to make the “all-newcomer team” by Street and Smith’s, which tabbed Rhode Island the league favorite.
