Lakota West standout Ryan Kelly earning high marks

Expectations are rising for Indianapolis Colts center Ryan Kelly, and that’s saying something considering the former Lakota West High star was drafted in the first round in 2016.

After starting all 16 games as a rookie, Indy coaches are looking for Kelly to further stabilize a unit that struggled as a group last season.

SBNation writer Brett Mock  takes a long look at the former Alabama standout with several video cut-ups.

His take: “Generally, though, he was excellent. He displays lateral mobility as a pass blocker, he shows the strength to anchor, he does a great job of creating running lanes by turning the defender away from the hole, and is strong enough to get short-yardage push in goal line situations.”

Mock suggests what with some fairly modest improvements, the 6-foot-4, 309-pound Kelly can become a dominant NFL center.
