Fairfield Warriors headed to Babe Ruth regional after winning 8U state title

The Fairfield Warriors captured the Babe Ruth Baseball League 8U state championship July 7-8, going 3-1 at the state tournament in Springfield.

The Warriors, representing the Fairfield Youth Baseball Association, will have their first game in the regional event in Crown Point, Ind., on Friday at 6 p.m. The 19-team field includes squads from Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana and Wisconsin.

Keith Schaefer is the Warriors’ head coach, with assistance from Matt Kroeger and Shane Crips.

The players are Gavin Crips, Liam Kroeger, Drew Schaefer, Jack Stephens, Brayden George, Nathan Bertram, Anthony Butler, Aidan Diersing, Tucker Johnson, Emily O’Brien, Braden Pierce and Dylan Schweizer.
