Commentary: No team is perfect ... not even the Buckeyes

There’s nothing wrong with asking for a little entertainment when depositing a large chunk of your paycheck into a ticket for a ballgame.

It’s just that every movie you attend isn’t going to win an Oscar, every concert you hear won’t hit all the perfect notes and that’s what you can expect from a ballgame as well.

Usually, all a fan wants is to win every game, beat the arch rival by a lot and complete the tasks in the most entertaining way.

Those are not always reachable goals at places such as Ohio State when football is involved, and Woody Hayes, Earle Bruce and John Cooper all fell short in one area or another.

Now we have Jim Tressel, and he appears to have it going ... except against highly-ranked teams. He’s also beating good teams by only a touchdown or two, when we’re expecting complete blowouts.

There was a question about the Buckeyes’ offense Saturday, Oct. 10, when two TDs in the 31-13 victory over previously undefeated Wisconsin were scored by the defense.

That was nothing compared to the grumbling over the very close Navy game.

Know this. Ohio State isn’t going to win them all by as much as everybody wants. Get over it.
