The Cincinnati Bengals signed veteran offensive tackle Andre Smith on Thursday.
Smith, a first-round pick by Cincinnati in 2009, has played 98 of his 110 career games with the Bengals.
The Bengals also signed long snapper Dan Godsil, a college free agent from Indiana, and waived first-year wide receiver Kermit Whitfield.
Smith gives the Bengals more depth on the offensive line, which has lost first-round pick Jonah Williams, a tackle, to a likely season-ending shoulder injury and guard Clint Boling, who retired earlier this month due to medical concerns. Third-year guard Alex Richmond will miss the first four games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing drug policy.
The Bengals also placed Williams, Redmond and cornerbacks Darqueze Dennard and Darius Phillips on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list.
Rookie running back Rodney Anderson was placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list.
