Ohio State is up to a dozen 2020 verbal commitments after Ty Hamilton gave his pledge over the weekend.

The Pickerington Central defensive lineman is the 12th player in the class and fifth from Ohio.

The 6-foot-3, 250-pound senior-to-be is a three-star prospect according to 247Sports Composite rankings and the No. 26 player in Ohio.

His older brother, Davon, will be a senior this fall for the Buckeyes. He was also a three-star defensive line prospect but was listed at about 35 pounds heavier when he was a Tiger.

The older Hamilton was a member of the defensive tackle rotation last season and started three games in place of an injured Robert Landers. He was credited with 16 tackles, including 3.5 for loss.

Ty Hamilton is the No. 44 strong-side defensive end prospect in the country at this point in the summer and chose Ohio State from an offer list that also included Michigan, Penn State, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia and many others.

He is the first defensive line prospect to commit to Ohio State so far in the 2020 cycle.

Pickerington has become one of the state’s top talent producers for football over the past 15 years, sending seven signees to Ohio State in that period of time.

That includes A.J. Trapasso, Jamie Wood, Zach Boren, Jacoby Boren and Davon Hamilton from Pickerington Central and Pat Elflein and Alex Williams from Pickerington North.

Ohio State was also where Justin Boren, the older brother of Jacoby and Zach, finished his career after transferring from Michigan.
