Bengals’ Lewis says Fisher is dealing with heart issue

Nineteen hours after declining to say what type of illness ended right tackle Jake Fisher’s season, saying it is “personal to Jake,” Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis disclosed the details on a national radio show.

Speaking on Sirius/XM NFL Radio on Thursday morning, Lewis said Fisher is dealing with an irregular heartbeat.

“The procedure that he needs to have sounds worse than it likely,” Lewis said at this Wednesday press conference. “When he saw another physician (Tuesday), the recommendation didn’t change. But after the procedure and medication and so forth, he needs to not be playing a contact sport for a period of time.”

The Bengals placed Fisher on the Non-Football Injury/Reserve listWednesday and re-signed veteran tackle Eric Winston, who was part of the final cuts after the preseason.
