You’ll find this special Knob Creek barrel-strength bourbon only at this steakhouse restaurant

LongHorn Steakhouse partners with bourbon producer to help roll out barrel-strength spirit at its restaurants nationwide

Here's the latest (ahem) proof of the power behind the bourbon renaissance that is sweeping this country.

Knob Creek has produced a special bottling of barrel strength — in this case, a bold 120-proof, or 60 percent alcohol — "Single Barrel Reserve" bourbon, and was looking for a partner to help roll it out. Thus, LongHorn Single Barrel Bourbon was born, available at LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants across the country, including the three locations in the Dayton area, according to a release from the restaurant chain.

The bourbon was “hand-selected and bottled just for LongHorn (Steakhouse),” restaurant officials said.

There are three LongHorn Steakhouse locations in the Dayton area: on Miller Lane in Butler Twp., on West Dorothy Lane in Moraine, and on Towne Drive across from the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek. The restaurant chain is owned and operated by Orlando-based Darden Restaurants, which also operates Olive Garden and Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen restaurants.

LongHorn Steakhouse says its guests are 42 percent more likely to drink bourbon than the average consumer.

The LongHorn Single Barrel Bourbon “was chosen for its quality and bold, smoky flavor profile,” LongHorn officials said in a release.

They described the bourbon as offering “complex layers of flavor with each smooth sip, containing palate notes of rich caramel, sweet oak, subtle smoke, warm baking spices, fig and tea leaves. ... The bourbon was cask-aged for a minimum of nine years and can be as old as 14 years.”

The LongHorn Single Barrel Reserve marks a first-of-its-kind partnership with Knob Creek, restaurant officials said. LongHorn’s beverage specialists selected an entire section of one of Knob Creek’s rackhouses, containing more than 200 individual casks distilled in bourbon country.
