McDonald’s releases limited edition coins created in Ohio for Big Mac’s 50th anniversary. Here’s how to get one.

For the Big Mac's 50th, McDonald's has created five designs of a new MacCoin that customers can receive on Thursday, Aug. 2, with the purchase of any Big Mac or Big Mac Extra Value Meal.

Those coins can be collected, shared, or redeemed for a free Big Mac between August 3 and the end of the year.

The 6.2 million coins that will be doled out in more than 50 countries around the world on Thursday were minted right here in Ohio at Osborne Coinage Company of Cincinnati, the oldest private mint in the U.S.
