CRAVING ROMANCE: White Castle adds new twists to its Valentine’s Day dinners

White Castle has started accepting reservations for its restaurants' iconic Valentine's Day celebrations, and the Columbus-based fast-food chain is adding some new twists this year that will help enable more lovers — and "Cravers" — to experience the joy.

This is the 28th year that White Castle restaurants morph into an entirely different place on Valentine’s Day, offering hostess seating, table-side service and decorations in every booth and table. More than 30,000 people are expected to dine at White Castle for a romantic Valentine’s Day experience, according to a White Castle release.

This year’s two new twists: A select few White Castle restaurants are offering the Valentine’s Day experience on TWO nights this year, and plans are in the works for cravers to bring the Valentine’s Day experience into their homes through delivery.

Three Cincinnati-area restaurants — including one at 5590 Dixie Highway in Fairfield — and four in the Columbus area are accepting reservations for Feb. 15 in addition to Feb. 14, Valentine’s Day.

All other locations are now accepting reservations for its annual Valentine's Day dinner on Thursday, Feb. 14, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at most locations. Reservations are now being accepted through OpenTable.com, the OpenTable mobile app, or by calling the nearest White Castle regional office. Reservations for Dayton-area and Cincinnati-area restaurants can be made at (513) 559-0575, ext. 21.

“Valentine’s Day has become a longstanding tradition that is very special to many of our customers and team members across the country,” Jamie Richardson, vice president of White Castle, said in a release. “Many Cravers have shared stories with us about meeting the loves of their lives, or forming lifelong friendships at our restaurants, so we look forward to hosting this special event every year to help our fans build even more memorable moments.”

For the first time since the Valentine’s Day tradition began, White Castle will also be offering customers the opportunity to enjoy the Valentine’s Day experience in their own homes.

A spokeswoman for White Castle said details are still being worked out on the delivery option, and those details should be available in early February. But delivery will include the “Love Castle” Crave Case, White Castle officials said.

Castle team members encourage those who attend the dinner to take photos and post them to social media using #LoveCastle. White Castle will also have a special Snapchat Geofilter at all locations for Valentine’s day.
