The large Ohio 747 widening project in Liberty Twp. begins today, and the first road closure has been announced

The huge Ohio 747 road widening project begins today and there will be a brief road closing mid-week.

The improvement project spans from Princeton Road to Millikin Road, two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times with the exception of a three-day weekend closure for a culvert replacement, which will be announced when dates are determined.

Willow Ridge Drive on the west side of Ohio 747 will be closed Wednesday, Feb. 14, to install a 42-inch storm sewer. The street will be closed between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Wynds of Liberty residents will need to enter and exit their subdivision using Princeton or Millikin Roads during this Wednesday’s closure.

A 30-day closure of Willow Ridge Drive immediately west of 747 will also occur, most likely in mid-spring, for drainage, curb, and pavement tie-in.

The $7 million project will widen about one mile of the heavily traveled, two-lane stretch of road to five lanes — two northbound, two southbound, and a center turn lane — from Princeton Road to Millikin Road. Right turn lanes will be added on northbound 747 to eastbound Princeton Road and on eastbound Millikin Road to southbound 747.
