Christopher Michael Rogers, 45, of Denton, is charged with resisting arrest, aggravated assault and assault on a peace officer, the newspaper reported. Rogers was booked into the Denton city jail, The Dallas Morning News reported. He had been released by Sunday night, the newspaper reported.

According to Denton police, Rogers refused to get out his car when he was pulled over at 11:08 p.m., WFAA reported. A Denton police officer had observed Rogers' car weaving from lane to lane, police said in a statement.

"The suspect was being uncooperative with officers and refused to exit his vehicle after being commanded several times," Officer Bryan Cose, a Denton police spokesman, told the Star-Telegram in an email Sunday. "Officers attempted to get the suspect out of the vehicle and gain control of him, but the male began to resist, punching an officer in the face in the process."

Another sergeant and a backup officer attempted to handcuff Rogers, who allegedly bit the sergeant's head and ear as they struggled on the ground, WFAA reported.

“The sergeant yells out that the man was biting him, and that’s when the man had bitten the officer’s right ear. (He) actually bit a chunk of it off,” Cose told the television station.

Officers used a Taser to subdue Rogers, WFAA reported.

The officer who was attacked was not identified, the Morning News reported. He was recovering at his home, according to the newspaper.
