Target looks to absorb Toys “R” Us sales this holiday

Wondering where you’ll shop for toys this holiday season? Target is hoping you’ll pick its stores in the absence of Toys “R” Us.

The retailer has more than doubled its holiday toy assortment and plans to add a quarter million square feet at more than 500 stores by Nov. 2 to house the toys. Larger electric vehicles and unpackaged toys will be available for viewing in the new expanded format.

More than 100 stores will have a total toy remodel to focus more on the child, including oversized displays and an interactive activity walk.

Among the larger toy sections, Target will stock 2,500 new and exclusive toys and will launch an online gift finder.

“For many guests, finding the perfect toy to wrap up and give their little loved ones this holiday is going to be their top priority. We want them to know that Target is here to help,” said Mark Tritton, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer for Target.

Target has more than 1,800 stores, including five in the Dayton Area, two in Butler County and about 10 in the Cincinnati area.
