Three taken to hospital after serious injury crash shut down I-75

A serious injury crash that occurred Monday night around 6:30 p.m. shut down I-75 southbound near mile post 22 in Butler County, according to a release.

The preliminary investigation shows that two vehicles, an Infiniti G35 and a Dodge Caravan, were traveling northbound on I-75 in the left most lane. The G35 attempted to pass the Caravan on the right, and while making the pass and getting back into the left lane, struck the right front of the Caravan.

After the Caravan was struck, the G35 lost control, went into the grassy median, and came back onto the roadway traveling northbound in the southbound lanes striking a Pontiac Grand Prix partially head on, the release stated.

The driver of the Grand Prix was entrapped and had to be extricated by the West Chester Fire Department and was transported to West Chester Hospital with serious injuries.

The other two drivers were transported to West Chester Hospital with minor injuries.

West Chester Police and West Chester Fire and EMS assisted with the closure of the interstate.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol Hamilton Post.
