Here’s a look at how the day developed:

10:55 p.m.: JUST IN: Antani and Dickerson come out on top for the 42nd district Ohio House Primaries. 

10:44 p.m.: BREAKING: Darryl Fairchild beats endorsed Democrat in Dayton City Commission race. Learn more about Fairchild.

10:33 p.m.: With all votes counted in both Darke and Miami counties, Jena Powell of Arcanum has beaten three other Republicans in one of Ohio's most expensive statehouse primary races. Powell won 49.5 percent of the 14,584 votes cast in the race. Reporter Katie Wedell explains how Powell clinched the win.

8:05 p.m.: The Associated Press says the woman who during 2016 accused then Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump of sexually harassing her more than a decade ago has won uncontested Democratic primary for Ohio State House. Rachel Crooks, 35, of Tiffin, to face GOP state Rep. Bill Reineke for Ohio's 88th House seat.

7:17 p.m.: The Associated Press calls it. Greg Pence wins GOP nomination for Indiana U.S. House seat once held by brother, Vice President Mike Pence. He is expected to be favored in November to keep Luke Messer's seat for Republicans.

1:05 p.m.: Bloomberg focuses on Ohio Democratic governor race

"The biggest Democratic race, however, is Ohio governor, where Elizabeth Warren ally Richard Cordray, late of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, is opposed by Dennis Kucinich. This one is a good example of how it's often less about ideological extremism than basic irresponsibility. We'll have to see whether Ohio Democrats punish Kucinich for flirting with support of Donald Trump and otherwise continuing his long history of oddball or worse behavior; if so, it's definitely at least one bad sign for the stability of the party. "

Noon: Plenty of time to vote

Board of election officials in area counties said turnout has been low and no problems were reported when the polls opened. As early voting has become more popular in Ohio, fewer people actually vote on Election Day.

“It’s obviously early in the day, but we don’t expect large crowds the rest of the day,” said Steve Harsman, deputy director of the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

11:36 a.m.: Ohio governor primaries ones to watch

The Associated Press says the nation is keeping an eye on Ohio’s governor primaries today.

Republicans in Ohio are certain to nominate a candidate to the right of outgoing Gov. John Kasich, a Trump critic. The state GOP backs Attorney General Mike Dewine. Kasich endorsed his two-term Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor, but she’s shied away from her would-be ally. Both candidates promise to undo Kasich’s expansion of Medicaid insurance after Democrats’ 2010 health care overhaul.

Democrats’ favorite is Richard Cordray, who ran the federal consumer protection agency under President Barack Obama. He’s gotten a push from liberal congressman Dennis Kucinich.

10:45 a.m. Senate race a test for Trump

A Republican congressman backed by President Donald Trump is seeking the nomination to challenge Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown in Ohio this fall.

Rep. Jim Renacci (ruh-NAY’-see) says he joined the Senate race with White House encouragement, after Ohio Treasurer Josh Mandel (man-DEL’) withdrew for personal reasons. Renacci had been running for governor, while Cleveland investment banker Mike Gibbons was already in the Senate race.

Gibbons raised funds for Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and is endorsed by Citizens for Trump, but Trump himself endorsed Renacci.

Gibbons has sued Renacci alleging false and defamatory statements, including that Gibbons is anti-Trump.

Also seeking the GOP nomination in Tuesday’s primary are Marysville small business owner Melissa Ackison, Cincinnati-area financial management company founder Daniel Kiley and retired public administrator Don Elijah Eckhart from Galloway.

9:35 a.m. State Issue One could be called early tonight

Since it is not facing any organized opposition a redistricting proposal backed by both parties on today’s ballot could be called early tonight. Issue 1 would amend Ohio’s constitution to change the way congressional districts are drawn. The effort is aimed at reducing the partisan manipulation of maps known as gerrymandering.
