Search underway again for county coalition leader

Just a month after being filled, the director role for Butler County Coalition for Healthy, Safe and Drug-Free Communities is vacant again.

The coalition’s fiscal agent, the Butler County Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services Board, will soon resume the search for an executive director after Rhonda Ramsey Molina — who filled the role Sept. 29 to Oct. 24 — resigned for another job offer, said John Bohley, executive director of the ADAS board.

“It’s an unusual situation; we’re still working through the details,” Bohley said. “We’re hoping that we’ll be able to work out a continuing relationship to have her involvement in a leadership capacity.”

The coalition director is responsible for assessing alcohol, tobacco, and other drug needs in the community; assessing the community’s readiness for coalition initiatives; facilitating technical support for and networking among local community coalition efforts; and promoting a culture of cross-sector collaboration in Butler County, among other duties.

Hired at an annual salary of $65,000, Molina came to the Butler County coalition from the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America in Virginia, Bohley said. Molina previously served as president and chief executive officer at the Coalition for a Drug-Free Greater Cincinnati.

“She’s been a dominant professional in the community coalition field,” Bohley said.

The coalition had been without an executive director since late May when Karen Murray retired. Dan Urra has been acting director since then.

The coalition is funded in part by the local ADAS board, as well as the recent renewal of a five-year grant of $125,000 per year from the federal Drug-Free Communities Support Program and an additional $30,000 grant from the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services.

The ADAS board will have a second vacancy to fill following the retirement of Bohley this week after 14 years as executive director. Julie Payton, director of clinical and program development, has been selected as interim director.
