Right-of-way purchases delay Tylersville Road widening in West Chester

The second phase of Tylersville Road widening in West Chester Twp., a project to enhance safety in the congested area, might be off the Butler County engineer’s to-do list for next year.

Right-of-way purchases to add another westbound lane from Interstate 75 to Cox Road are delaying the project, according to the Butler County Engineer’s Office.

“We’re still in contact with Home Depot, Perkins is pretty much done, we’re still dealing with Wendy’s and Bob Evans,” Butler County Engineer Greg Wilkens told county commissioners Monday during budget hearings. “So we are not sure it will be constructed next year. The right-of-way purchases might delay it.”

If the properties are acquired, the $1.8 million project will close Tylersville Road access driveways, meaning restaurant-goers would have to enter behind the businesses, like the eateries closer to Cox Road.
