Two of the residents had been on the second floor of the house and heard the front door open and close. One of them said he walked downstairs to see the suspect standing in the kitchen. He said he went back upstairs to get the other two residents of the house and when they all came downstairs, the suspect was sitting on a chair in the living room.
He reportedly told them he was trying to find “Momma V.”
They were able to get him to leave but saw him take a glass jar from inside the house as he did so. They watched as he walked to the side yard of a neighbor’s house and followed him. The suspect then took the jar and threw it toward their house, shattering it on a rock path in the back yard. They also watched as he threw a bottle of Excedrin, also taken from their house, at the house. He walked on Elm Street toward West Sycamore Street.
All the residents said they did not know the suspect and did not invite him inside the house.
He was described as a young, white male with short hair, wearing gray shorts and no shoes. He also had a tattoo on his calf. He was located in a breezeway at Parkview Arms Apartments on College Corner Pike and an officer drove him back to the house where the residents identified him as the man who had entered their residence.
The suspect was taken to the Oxford Police Department where he was read the Miranda Warning but said he did not understand it but did not know which part he did not understand.
The report noted several of his statements made it seem like he might be under the influence of a narcotic. He was charged with burglary and theft and taken to the Butler County Jail.
