UPDATE @ 3:10 p.m.:

Middletown Police Chief Rodney Muterspaw said the Butler County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death of the Middletown woman with nine children.

He said “known drug dealers” were in the house in the 1400 block of Yankee Road on Wednesday and they left the woman to die.

Police found the mother lying on the kitchen floor, he said.

Donations have started to come in for the nine children whose mother died after a possible overdose, according to Middletown Police Chief Rodney Muterspaw.

Muterspaw said one donor gave $9,000 — $1,000 for each child.

By 3 p.m. today, several tables in the police training room in the lower level of the City Building were loaded with presents for the children. Muterspaw said the department has received calls from the community and from other states as far away as California.

“It’s overwhelming,” the chief said.

He said the department will locate the men who were in the house before the woman died.

“We want them bad,” said Muterspaw, who added the detectives working the case “took it hard.”

Linda Rall, owner of Skateway in Middletown, dropped off two large boxes of presents and skating passes for the family. She lost her mother on Christmas, 18 years ago. She can’t imagine how these nine children are coping with the death of their mother.

“It’s just horrible,” she said. “It’s so heartbreaking. Everybody needs Christmas.”

INITIAL REPORT:

Middletown Police are looking for two drug dealers who allegedly left a mother of nine to die, they said.

Middletown detectives and officers were called to a home Wednesday night and found a mother had fatally overdosed on heroin, according to the department’s Facebook page.

The mother was with her supposed “friends” who let her die in front of her nine children, the Facebook post said. The two men also stole some of the woman’s money, police said.

Police are looking for two white males, possibly a father/son team. One man has gray hair and gray facial hair and was wearing a red and black coat. The other man was thin build and was wearing a brown jacket, the children told police.

“It has disturbed us so much that it’s time for us to make a difference,” the police department’s social media post said. “Their father is a hard worker. He has tried to make ends meet, but it’s a vicious cycle.”

Middletown police are accepting donations of clothes, coats, blankets, food, a stove, a refrigerator, and toys for the children.

The kids range in age from 1-14, according to the police department. The girls are ages 14, 5, 3 and 1. The boys are ages 13, 11, 10, 6 and 2.

Donations are being accepted at the police department at the city building, One Donham Plaza.
