The fundraising milestone was achieved with the help of nearly 270,000 donors, around a third of whom were alumni, according to OSU. More than $151 million of donations were given to research and $92 million was given to “student support,” OSU reports.
Fundraising increased in FY 2018 by about 14 percent from the previous fiscal year when Ohio State also set a new record by bringing in $532 million in donations, the university reported at the time.

“The unmatched philanthropic spirit of Buckeye Nation continues to astound and inspire,” OSU president Michael Drake said in a prepared statement. “Our university is deeply fortunate to have so many alumni and friends committed to advancing our land-grant mission and changing lives across Ohio and beyond.”
Ohio State’s larges gifts during FY 2018 include a $17-million commitment to the Fisher College of Business to create a new entrepreneurship center and gifts totalling $18 million toward a heart hospital, according to the university.
