Faber, R-Celina, former Ohio Senate president and current Ohio House member, already declared that he is running for state auditor. Faber said: “We have been running for auditor for roughly a year and have received great support around Ohio. We have a great team and are moving forward!”
Until this year, Rosenberger and Faber each led a legislative chamber, making them two of the “Big Three” politicos who run state government — speaker, senate president and governor.

The last speaker to run for statewide office was Jon Husted in 2010 when he won his first term as secretary of state.
Zack Space, a former U.S. representative, is the Democrat in the race for state auditor.
Rosenberger, R-Clarksville, cannot run for re-election to the Ohio House because of term limits. He said the auditor job appeals to him because it offers an opportunity to work closely with local government. Rosenberger said he is also considered running for Clinton County commissioner next year.
